Grant Wood: American Gothic and Other Fables:

  • Art historian Sasha Nicholas will infuse the much-anticipated exhibition Grant Wood: American Gothic and Other Fables with scholarly background and contemporary relevance, and connect back to our Figuration theme. Nicholas is currently a PhD candidate at City University of New York, with degrees in art history from Princeton and Columbia. She has curated exhibits for the Whitney in the past and remains strongly affiliated with the museum.
  • We will then walk a short distance to the Westbeth Artists Community, a nonprofit housing and commercial complex dedicated to providing affordable living and working space for artists and art organizations in NYC since 1960. We will hear from its president about this remarkable facility and view its current gallery exhibition, The Westbeth Graphic Studio, a collection from its resident printmakers, with some of the artists present to explain their work.
